- The Circus Rationale
"The Circus" has been selected as the focus of this term's integrated units of work. The theme will cover a range of learning experiences across the Key Learning Area's, but mainly encompass the performing arts and movement skills. Main
Focus The central activity of this theme will be preparing, practicing and performing a Circus for an audience (parents). The focus will be on the main characters and animals seen in a circus, with separate units on Performers, Animals and Clowns. Theme
Over-view The theme will run for a term. Units of work may be undertaken in 3 week blocks as outlined and include curriculum focus points and learning outcomes based on the Victorian Curriculum and Standards Framework Level 1, and skills from Barwon Valley Draft Curriculum Documents. The major Key Learning Areas covered are The Arts, and Health & Physical Education. Circus based learning tasks will be undertaken in English, Maths and Technology, while Studies of Society and the Environment, and Science learning outcomes will be included in an integrated curriculum approach with projects undertaken by individuals and as a group.
