Barwon Valley School
Transition Program.
Preparing for life after
school.
The Transition Program offers a Department of Education and Training program for 16 – 18 year olds. The major focus of this program is to prepare the students for life in an adult community. The Program is based around three major skill areas:
·
Vocational Education.
·
Independent Living Skills.
·
Recreational and Leisure skills. The knowledge and skills that the students learned in earlier years are developed further to be used in Real Life settings. The students have opportunities to experience the real world through activities such as shopping, cooking, banking, work experience, excursions and camps. Through involvement in these activities, and leisure programs such as sailing, the students’ will expand and extend their abilities in ways that will equip them for life after school. The Transition Program accommodates the wide range of abilities of all the students.
